Metering

Photo Journal Day 31:
Oh… my .. GOODNESS!!! I had no idea what metering was or how it could increase my creative photo taking options until now. First of all, I had never heard about it, so I read a quick article (https://photographylife.com/understanding-metering-modes) which explained the basic concepts.  Then I grabbed my camera and the manual to learn how to adjust the settings on my personal camera.
Here’s what I learned about Metering Options:
  1. Matrix Metering : Captures all but the outer frame/edges of the photo, most common
  2. Center-Weighted Metering : Focuses on the center of frame, making outer parts blurred ( good for close-ups and large subjects, silhouettes)
  3. Spot Metering : You CHOOSE the SPOT in the frame you want to focus on ( good when the subject is a very small part of the frame )
Then came the fun part! Practicing with my camera!!! Here’s what my pictures looked like…
Quick Tip of the Day :  Fn for the little black button on the front of my camera to the right of the lens (the one of top) ....you can
PREVIEW the photo's aperture and shutter speed before you ever take the photo by pressing down on the button!! So cool!
